Econometric analysis of profit efficiency of broiler farms in Ondo state, Nigeria

Researchers have recently focused their attention on the chicken producers' inability to produce in sufficient quantities and quality, which contributes high price of locally produced chickens. The study investigated profit efficiency broiler farms Ondo state, Nigeria. In order collect cross-sectional data from sixty owners poultry area between October 2021 January 2022 for production year, a multistage survey technique was used. were an-alyzed using descriptive statistics, gross margin Cobb-Douglas stochastic frontier model. Average stock size mortality rate farmers 1826 birds 3.3% respectively while Ross strain most preferred birds. result indicated that farming is lucrative busi-ness with profitability index 45.5 %. results reveal cost feed, labour used day-old chicks variables significantly explained poul-try household size, years experience other income source inefficien-cy variables. recommends government supports form input subsidies enhance
